Mary Johnston Hospital Celebrates Privacy Awareness Week 2026
In celebration of Privacy Awareness Week 2026, held from May 25–29 with the theme “Anamnesis: Looking Back and Moving Forward,” the Data Protection Office (DPO) conducted a series of activities aimed at strengthening data privacy awareness and reaffirming the hospital’s commitment to protecting personal information in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and relevant issuances of the National Privacy Commission (NPC).
As part of the observance, the hospital organized DPO Talks, featuring data privacy orientation sessions for Medical Interns, Housekeeping Personnel, and Security Personnel to enhance their understanding of privacy responsibilities and the proper handling of personal information in the workplace. Employees also participated in DPO Asks: Question of the Day, an interactive activity designed to reinforce key data privacy concepts and promote best practices in safeguarding personal information. In addition, the DPO Detective: Spot the Risk Challenge encouraged staff to identify potential privacy risks in everyday work scenarios, fostering vigilance, accountability, and a proactive approach to data protection.
Through these initiatives, the Data Protection Office not only reflected on the organization’s progress in promoting data privacy but also reinforced a culture of privacy, trust, and shared responsibility across the hospital. The activities served as an opportunity to strengthen employees’ awareness and commitment to protecting personal information, ensuring that data privacy remains an integral part of the hospital’s daily operations and service deliver
